Stain Removal

I got back from Rome at 5 am this morning. It’s a long story. I’ll leave you in suspense for a while, but your anticipation will be gratified as soon as I get around to documenting all of the adventures that went on in the past five days. For now I’ll reflect on today, which didn’t start until about 11 am when I took a blissful shower. Not much else happened aside from some full term orientation, grocery shopping, cooking dinner and getting caught up on life in general (including 57 e-mails and 700 photos from our trip – which will be pared down).

One of my roommates, Bethany, seemed in need of some TLC, so Alicia and I decided to kidnap her for a few hours. After going to Wycliffe to check our e-mail (our home Internet is depressingly out of commission) we walked to Sainsbury’s Local and let her pick out a bottle of her choice. Not long after the three of us sat in St. Giles’ Graveyard with three wine glasses and some cheap Chianti. The weather was lovely and the atmosphere perfect. All that was missing was the corkscrew. Since we are unable to return home with alcoholic beverages, Bethany took matters into her own hands. The tombstone neighboring our chosen reclining monument proved just the right place to smash off the neck of the bottle. Luckily we retained a good three glasses of wine. Unluckily it splattered all over my chino pants and khaki coat when Alicia’s glass shattered after our toast. Any cleaning tips would be helpful. Warm water and vinegar have failed, despite all the acclaim they have been given. So much for Pocket Mom.

Crazy girl...no cork screw! my, my. Stain removal...club soda I heard works. But if you can get some stuff called Zout, that should take the stains out. I had wine splattered on the back of one of my nice shirts last year, and Zout took it out! Try that. ;) Good luck, sis.
